For as long as I can remember the big craze here in Norfolk has been about the well-known cafe called ‘Bellyboo’s’. I have the biggest sweet tooth of all time so have wanted to visit for a while now; but this weekend me and my friend Tara finally found the time to venture to Ghourlston to sample the beautiful yet tasty shakes.

Personally, I’ve never visited Ghourlston before but the quaint little village was almost a juxtaposition to the nearby seaside town of Great Yarmouth. ‘Bellyboo’s’ itself is situated on the main high street and inexplicably stands out against all of the mainstream shops.

There is lovely seating outside the front and out the back if you fancy the sun on a warm summer’s day. We got seated inside which was a slight blessing as the day we visited was quite cold (admittedly we did dress for a Summer day).

The cafe itself isn’t very big and can get quite cramped and busy extremely quickly. The owners obviously have noted this and have made a great system where you order your milkshake first, they seat you themselves (to avoid any fighting over seats) and then wallah just like that your milkshake arrives.

I should note that we were told it would be a 45 minute wait (we did go on a Saturday so it was expected). Luckily it did only end up being a 25-30 minute wait. To be completely honest I was extremely surprised at the prices, my milkshake was only £3.50 – which is a little different to the $15 we spent on one milkshake in Florida at the ‘Toothsome Chocolate Emporium’.

I had the ‘Eton Mess’ shake which was fresh strawberries blended into strawberry ice cream, topped with cream, strawberry sauce, meringues and of course…strawberries themselves. I adore chocolate treats but just knew if I had a shake of that size I would end up feeling sick and unable to finish it = something I definitely didn’t want to happen. The shake itself tasted wonderful, it was thick but not too gloopy which made for perfect brain freeze. My friend Tara had a ‘Smores’ shake and that tasted awesome too – it came topped with ginormous marshmallows and a chocolate digestive.

Not only is ‘Bellyboo’s’ a shake cafe but it also sells the most varied range of American sweets you could ever think of. I will link their menu on their website here if you want to check it out. Definitely get yourself down to Bellyboo’s if you’re in the area – I honestly can’t rate it enough. The shakes taste awesome but are also beyond Instagramable that are fantastic value for money.
