One of my all-time favourite books is ‘One Day’ by David Nicholls. Before reading ‘One Day’ I mainly stuck to adventure books such as ‘The Hunger Games’ or ‘Percy Jackson’; ‘One Day’ however, pushed me to revel in my secret romantic side; ever since I have never looked back. ‘One Day’ is a very special story where I was touched by Emma and Dexter’s story and never considered that I could be so emotionally entwined in a love story ever again…until I met Henry and Clare.

Following their lives and witnessing their struggle with Henry’s incurable time travel made my eyes weep and my heart yearn, longing for nothing but them both to be happy and settled. I began to feel like I was a part of their world and in fact time travelling with Henry, slowly becoming more of an adult and admiring Clare as she grew up, learning to love Henry despite their age gap.

‘The Time Traveller’s Wife’ took me a considerable amount of time to read (baring in mind I’m a quick reader) due to the fact I was so wound up in the story and characters I didn’t dare return for another measly chapter as I feared what awkward and unbearable situation Henry would fall into next. Their lives became a whirlwind of a rollercoaster and I wasn’t sure how much more I could physically cope with, let alone read.

I could not recommend this book to anyone enough. I think it’s accessible to everyone and no matter what your taste in book genre you can fall in love with the book. If it still doesn’t appeal to you, it’s important to expand your book genres and discover new styles because like me, it can become almost life-changing in my book world.

All of the above, is down to the immaculately exquisite author. Niffenegger has truly wowed me with her delightful and endearing characters and story-telling; I am more than excited to delve into ‘P.S. I love you’ in the near future. If anybody can recommend a book that is similar to ‘The Time Traveller’s Wife’ please pop it in the comments below, ever since reading it I have been dying to grip my heart into another romantic story.
