I am extremely excited to share that I received by first blog mail from Influenster! Eee! After a whole year of using the platform I was lucky enough to be sent a voxbox for the most recent release: Marc Jacobs Matte Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in the shades ‘Pink of Me’ and ‘(Earth)Quake’.
Personally, I think the wait to receive a voxbox has been worth it as I enjoy using the app regardless of being sent free products. But being sent free make-up to trial out to feed back to all of you is always a bonus! I would recommend the app to anyone who is interested in Beauty or is just looking to trial out new products, I wrote an entire article explaining about the apps purpose and why I like it here if you want to check it out.
Regardless of how excited I was to be finally be receiving a voxbox I can honestly say apart from liquid eyeliner in black I don’t really venture further out of my comfort zone to try anything new. So when the shades I was sent were pink and brown I was slightly scared to trial them.
Once I applied the gel I knew this wasn’t going to work for me as eyeliner so instead I used it as a base for my eyeshadow to create an easy and quick look and it really worked. I love the pink shade as a base and it’s complimented so nicely by the NAKED 3 palette. I applied a full layer of the crayon style nib really easily, the formula allowed it to glide onto my lid and blend really well. The pigmentation is actually so strong I don’t believe you would need the added eyeshadow, but the shade itself was slightly too pearly for me and I wanted something a tiny bit stronger on my eyes. Upon application it generally felt quite heavy on my lids, but after some blending and the day progressing I can confirm I could hardly feel it on my eyes.
Overall, I think the eyeliner works really well as a base but maybe I wouldn’t use it purely as a liner as it seems difficult to apply for a small area. I also don’t enjoy coloured eyeliner as I’m too scared to venture outside of my comfort zone of black. Throughout the day it held my eyeshadow really well so I would definitely recommend this product to you.
