Although I’m only 18 years old, many say I’m tremendously mature and wise for my young age. Of course, I always thought this was ridiculous, but overtime I have began to realise my full potential. In my years of being a child, progressing into a teenager, growing up and entering the work place I learnt a lot about the big blue world, and discovering myself. Here is the list of things that I have learned:
- Be true to yourself, you’re you for a reason
- Expand your knowledge constantly, reading is a never-ending world of information that will benefit you one day
- Sometimes, it is about who you know, not what you know, so be proactive and enjoy meeting new people
- Be proud of yourself and your achievements, even if you don’t feel like it every day, you are amazing
- Don’t be scared to try new things
- Friends will be there when perhaps your family can’t
- It’s a great big world out there, don’t stay sat inside. Even if your adventure is only 10 minutes from your house, it’s somewhere new and that in itself is exciting
- Look after yourself and make sure you take time to relax
- Don’t be in the position to get sleep deprived, resting is ridiculously important
- Discover what you love, and continue to pursue it, whether it be rock concerts or the Theatre, if you enjoy it, why not return and enjoy it again?
- Don’t be afraid to be a child, life is about having fun
- Treating yourself is important – whether it be a new pair of shoes or a chocolate bar, a treats a treat
- Look back and remind yourself how far you’ve come
- Seek inspiration every day
- Strive to be creative
- Don’t be afraid to fail, it wouldn’t be healthy if we always got what we wanted
- Be proactive
- Have your goals written down – crossing them off once you’ve achieved them makes them feel real
- Take LOTS of pictures, you never know if you’ll return to this place, and even if you do, will it look the same?
- Follow your dreams; this can be hard because you don’t always know what your dreams are, but always follow your heart and your instincts
